Trio XIV
for tenor saxophone, percussion and piano
Wolff, Christian
Christian Wolff is now the sole living composer from the New York School of composition from the middle of the 20th century, a group that included John Cage, Morton Feldman, and Earle Brown. In Wolffs 16-minute Trio XIV for tenor saxophone, percussion, and piano, the unpitched percussion are picked from skin-drums, metal, junk, and other sources. The pitched percussion are the player's choice. Multiple performance scores are used in performance.
